Wood Wood AW19
Entitled ‘Come Down Easy,’ Wood Wood’s AW19 collection celebrates a reimagined alpine adventure in the great outdoors. Showcasing garments across menswear and womenswear, the collection is thematically linked to their nature-inspired Spring Summer 2019 presentation. This time however, the emphasis is on silhouette and print references to mountains and skiing, underpinned by echoes of streetwear and military detailing.
The use of technical fabrics, neoprene accessories and skin-tight jerseys show Wood Wood’s nod to skiwear as a collection made to suit to the contemporary wardrobe. Even snow goggles are transformed from banal mountain gear to slick eyewear from a distant future.
Chunky knits and half-cardigan stitches feature prolifically in the looks, signalling a throwback to vintage Nordic knitwear. These range from patterned crewnecks to thick melanges in a variegation of rich aqua tones. Styling is complete with trousers in relaxed silhouettes, and heavy hiking boots with colour-pop lacing. There are bold, sporadic flashes of colour throughout the collection to offset predominantly neutral, earth-tones. These appear in lime-green and hot orange jackets, hats and bags. Outerwear is modern, functional and made for heavy-duty layering.
Doing what it does best, Wood Wood infuses elements of contemporary streetwear and military-style tailoring into its AW19 collection. Workwear jackets, boilersuits and bucket hats come alive in Wood Wood’s updated signature duck hunter and tiger-stripe camo prints. When combined with the functionality of performance wear, the collection becomes an extremely wearable range for the modern man and woman.
