Songzio FW25
In the world of haute couture, few brands manage to balance historical homage and contemporary innovation as smoothly as Songzio. For its Fall/Winter 2025 collection, the South Korean house presents "Piccadil," a narrative that combines the opulence of baroque aesthetics with the spirit of the avant-garde.
At the heart of this collection lies the reinterpretation of the piccadil, an ornamental collar style rooted in historic European fashion. Traditionally crafted from luxurious fabrics like silk and linen, the piccadil symbolized status and privilege. Songzio has stripped this emblem of its rigid conventions, transforming it into a bold and modern statement. Through exaggerated proportions, asymmetrical draping, and raw finishes, the collection reimagines its historical connotations to create garments that evoke both grandeur and rebellion.
Songzio’s reinterpretation draws heavily from the works of Velázquez, whose mastery of light and texture gave his portraits a psychological depth. This influence is reflected in the collection’s layering techniques and innovative tailoring, revealing the body through complex constructions and voluminous silhouettes.
The craftsmanship behind "Piccadil" highlights Songzio’s commitment to artistry, while also revisiting its ties to Eastern aesthetics by integrating principles of asymmetry and fluidity into its designs. The garments are assembled from tweeds, bouclés, and linen wool, juxtaposed with metallic and holographic fabrics.
Over the years, Songzio has built a reputation for its conceptual approach to menswear, challenging conventional forms while remaining deeply rooted in craftsmanship. With "Piccadil," the brand pushes its narrative even further, drawing from history to create something that feels both timeless and radically new.
