KIDILL FW25

KIDILL FW25

Hiroaki Sueyasu presents his Fall/Winter 2025 collection, revisiting the energy of Harajuku in the late 1990s and early 2000s. This Tokyo neighborhood, once an epicenter of creativity and rebellion, saw young people embrace fashion as a tool for self-expression, resistance and mixing subcultures. It was the golden age of DIY, immortalized by iconic magazines like TUNE and FRUiTS. For Sueyasu, who grew up amidst this creative scene, this collection reflects the roots of his creativity and questions how we perceive authenticity in today’s world.

At the heart of this collection lies a collaboration with "A STORE ROBOT," a Harajuku institution since 1982, known for its connection to Vivienne Westwood's Seditionaries and its commitment to the punk movement. Sueyasu also draws from his time in London, where the rave and punk scenes left a lasting impact on his creative universe, injecting this collection with cultural depth and a renewed vision.

KIDILL’s FW25 showcases a dynamic interplay of visuals: futuristic metallic finishes with vibrant camouflage prints, plastic headpieces, spiky chokers and endless cyberpunk references. The contribution of Los Angeles artist Brett Westfall, with his illustrations of strawberries, punk kids, and skaters, adds a refreshing touch to pieces like quilted coats, chinos, sweatshirts, and MA-1 jackets. This collaboration, built on a shared vision, perfectly exemplifies the fusion of subcultures and sensibilities dear to Harajuku.

Rather than simply glorifying the past, Sueyasu uses it as a dynamic resource to explore individuality, style, and cultural heritage. His Fall/Winter 2025 collection reimagines Harajuku’s golden age to offer a contemporary take on authenticity, challenging the homogenizing trends of our era. A true declaration of cultural and stylistic independence.
