What have you been thinking about lately?
I've been thinking a lot about how I can motivate myself to play more music. I get distracted very easily in New York and it stops me from being as productive as I could be.
What/who have been your biggest musical influences?
I grew up on punk pop and grunge and I idolized female musicians a lot as a kid, I still do. Now I try to listen to a lot of different types of music (jazz, punk, techno/rave, classic, rap, doo wop) instead of fixating on one genre because I think it makes for well rounded music. At the same time it kind of slows me down because I'll spend like a week working on like a rock song then hear a really good techno album and decide what I'm doing isn't ravey enough and start all over again haha. I also think that when I only listen to one genre or musician I just end up making music thats been made before and thats not really my goal. Right now I've been listening to a lot of Fiona Apple, Dionne Warwick, Bjork (duh), Smashing Pumpkins, Frank Ocean, the soundtracks from the movies Hackers and Interstellar.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
That sounds like some kind of weird hell to me.
What’s your favourite city?
New York is the best place on Earth obviously, but Paris is really nice too. I've lived in New York my whole life so at times it feels as though I know everyone here and everything that there is to do. Paris is like a breath of fresh air for most New Yorkers but I think I'll always end up coming home.
How do you decide what to do with your eyebrows?
They were bleached for a shoot with Interview Magazine and they still haven't grown out. I think they're pretty cute.
