Continuing its intimate exploration of the body’s relationship with otherness, gaze and exposure, RUi SS24 “Absent” Collection investigates the constant blurring of boundaries. Interiority, desire and the outside world form an ambivalent symbiotic relation, “feeding off of each other as two thriving opponents in a game of parity. In the power dynamics full of uncertainty, they become absent to each other” as one can read in the brand’s press release.

Balancing closeness and aggression toward the outside world, the silhouettes are defined by the brand's distinctive and imaginative cut-outs and by thorn-like bumps spreading out in a sensual effort to dissolve boundaries without tearing them apart. These “thorns” serve as a metaphorical symbol of both nature’s resistance and human being’s curiosity to reach out.

Sensuality and outward-reaching mutation can be found at the point of intersection between the skin and its habitat.

The collection presented also symmetrical prints of morphing insect markings accompanied by crinkle satin resembling the mimicry of snakeskin, which explore the difference and interplay between species.

A philosophical coexistence of duality and unity runs through RUi SS24 Collection. It metaphorically refers to the interaction of physical space, while at the same time, pointing to the remains of the spiritual desert humans are trapped in.
