Issey Miyake SS25

For its SS25 collection entitled Up, Up, and Away, HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE debuted a series of 39 looks inspired by the wind and its interactions with textiles and the body. Presented at the Mobilier National in Paris, the collection consisted of garments designed with sheer, lightweight textiles and voluminous, loose-fitting silhouettes that came to life as each model walked through gentle gusts of wind.

Highlights from the collection include a signature “Windswept Plaid” print, a traditional plaid that distorts as it captures the movement of the wind, and silhouettes directly inspired by air-borne objects such as kites and parachutes. The collection’s “KITE” and “KITE COAT” for instance, feature tops, one-pieces, and coats with quadrilateral, cape-like forms that can be altered by fastening and unfastening buttons, while the “PARACHUTE” offers straps that nod to the harnesses of its namesake design.

Featuring a crisp, bright color palette consisting of soft whites, cornflower blues, and mint greens, balanced out by warmer shades of blacks, browns, red oranges, and mustard yellows, pieces from Up, Up, and Away are made using a breathable blend of recycled nylon and cotton.
