Hard Love
Designer Sophie Hardeman of the Amsterdam-based gender free denim brand HARDEMAN presented her latest collection in London at the 50m concept store in collaboration with the dating app Feeld. The brand, space and app teamed up to create an interactive evening, open to all genders and sexual identities, through a dating event called ‘A day in the Feeld’ - which allowed the audience to engage with the performers and models wearing the HARDEMAN designs while going on multiples speed dates.
The collection shared at the event is titled ‘Hard Love’ - exploring themes of adolescence, sexuality, self-love and self-care. It features draped dresses, tie dye tops, pin-stripe jeans and silky textures - inspired by American iconography.
Aside from this season’s garments, Hardeman has had an impressive professional progression: graduating from Gerrit Rietveld Acadmie’s fine arts and fashion program in 2015; being named by the New York Times as one of‘Five Designers to Watch’in 2016; presenting her first collection on the VFILES Funway in 2016 as well; and setting up her own denim studio and boutique in 2018. The Dutch designer was also nominated and listed under ‘Forbes 30 Under 30 EU’ in 2018. Her clothes may have first become widely known in Amsterdam, but now - with the likes of Troy Sivan and Kali Uchis wearing Hardeman’s designs - HARDEMAN is a globally known brand.
