I want to hang out with Sophie. She seems fun(ny), cool and well…happy! I’m sure she is human and has her days, but she does seem to be in fine fettle. Do you have a personal favorite look from this collection?
I really love that all the printed pieces are unique, they are all different and handmade. Emojis are nowadays almost THE way to communicate your emotions - I wanted to put a question mark by this by putting these on someone's outfit.

If the "Happy Hardeman 2k18" capsule collection was a scent - what would it smell like?
We have just released our first fragrance " OUT OF THE BLUE" inspired by poppers. The fragrance rushes to the head but hugs the thighs like a tight pair of jeans.

What was the underground music scene like in your teens? What did you wear to your first show or rave or concert?
I would take trips and go to concerts and raves by myself. This is how I got closely connected to the music scene here. Also I had a punk bank band called Pussy Damp! I always made my own outfits and wore denim suits that I reworked to 'clubwear'.

What music do you listen to now? Is there still a strong community in the music scene in Amsterdam?
Music has always played a great influence in my life. I listen to all sorts of music from classic and metal to punk. Amsterdam has a strong community and its' artists help each other and work together often.

If you could choose a musician(s) dead or alive to wear this capsule collection, who would you pick?
I wish I could work with Leigh Bowery and perform with his band Raw Sewage!!

Does wearing these garments ACTUALLY make one happy? Is there a happy dust in the fibers of the clothing?!
YES 4 SURE <3 <3 because so much love goes into the creation process of the garments. Hardeman will surely leave you awkardly smiling every time.

Is there anywhere you wouldn't go wearing jeans?
I would never go anywhere not wearing jeans. From denim Tanga's to Leotards in jeans Hardeman makes the best denim for any occasion.

Do you love denim or does denim love you?
Its a mutual love affair! I feel we really balance each other out. We provoke normality and by working together (with denim) we challenge the perception of what that entails.

What is the meaning of happiness to you?
When everything in life seems to be in sync, lol. For me it is going to my favorite snack bar around the corner and having the best fries in town while watching the most interesting people walk by.
