Jogging on the balcony, rotten broccolis and humidity as a monster: Welcome to the COVID-19-world of this Chinese artist.

You seem to like the combination of fake fur and resin. How come?
I was scared of the humid weather in the city I live. And I found it frustrating as I was trying to wrung out the thick material (fake fur). Once I combined these two things together, it looked like the monster—the nameless horror of humidity lives inside my mind. The creation process was one of the approaches to figure out how this monster looks like: it probably helped me deal with my fear. It was such a wonderful experience. So I decided to make a whole series of soft and fluffy weird animals to welcome people to take a break, infused in the memories that this space triggered in their imagination. And perhaps comforting people, trying to heal the wounds and protecting them from traumatizing themselves with their bad memories.

If you could say one sentence to Donald Trump, what would you say?
As an artist I would like to say: I send you my best wishes. Respect women properly and stop undisguised racial discrimination.

How has the quarantine be working out for you: how have you stayed busy and what did you do, when you felt anxious?
I have been a bit busy since the quarantine. I am locked up in my community nearly two months already. Somehow the leisure time has turned into a blackhole where my mind might be sucked into. Except daily sanitization, I kept reading news (both domestically and international, true and fake), exchanging information by joining several chat rooms, reading manga voraciously, suffering from modeling and enjoying bird watching.

What is your favorite color?
Babypink.

If you were a fish, which one would you be and why?
The mola mola. I wanna grow extremely fast so that I could find myself a reason to throw me back to the ocean and lay flat on the water to sun myself. Annoying seagulls will be very welcomed.

What is your latest inspiration?
When I was jogging on my balcony the other day, I saw two disposed rotten broccolis beside the trash. That gave me a thrill. Sad and shitty things that nobody would even care about, are the core of my vibe.

Tell us more about your art project @our_ring_kingdom.
I want to create a nostalgic shalter for people to retrieve their good old memories and create some new. Thus I made a lot of semi-transparent accessories that could reflect ourselves and be see through. The accessories are mostly very impractical objects.
