On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, 5VIE presents Nigerian designer Nifemi Marcus-Bello’s Omi Iyọ (meaning salt water in Yoruba), a poignant installation calling attention to the dangerous journeys of undocumented migrants from Africa to Europe. Throughout the week, salt flows from the work’s hull-shaped mirror, serving as a poetic marker honoring the very real human toll of this crisis—and offering a literal and symbolic moment of reflection for visitors.
