The New Normal
The normalization of masks in our day-to-day lives is seen as an inconvenience to most, though mandated for a greater good. The team reimagines the concept of a face covering in conjunction to our daily interactions with strangers in his project “The New Normal”. Can the concealment of one’s face be avantahoues in terms of being free from biases based around physicality? The knitwear and crochet masks displayed in this editorial feature explore an unprecedented freedom to express oneself with anonymity. The characters are no longer bound by the prejudices surrounding; gender, sexuality, age, or any other forms of their external identity. “The New Normal” highlights the silver lining of the times we are living through currently. Though much has been lost and compromised the freedom to create and express is of high importance, especially right now.
