Using the work of emerging fashion design students, photographer Marnik A. Boekaerts tells a story inspired by what’s happening behind the scenes: The practice of a performance. Performed by Zakaria Qichouh, Elena Veleckaite and Baye Marteleurin, the juxtaposition of the moments captured drop the mask, and show the true reality of a performance.
Here, like in fashion studies, the focus on the preparation and the rehearsal lies parallel to the final moment – teasing the audience into a sense of anticipation. Just as we might ask“what’s next” during a rehearsal, so too do we ask the same question of the next generation of fashion.
