Ravers Fantasy
Ravers Fantasy is a photographic project that delves into the world of youth subcultures. These groups of young people have been gathering since the '60s to express their identities through clothing and give fashion a social meaning. One such subculture is the cyber subculture, which directly emerged from rave culture. Inspired by Japanese anime and animation series, Alice Consonni aims to portray bold heroines who embody determination, resilience, and the willingness to sacrifice for a greater cause.
Ravers Fantasy takes us on a journey into the "digital era," prompting us to reflect on the transformation of the technological world before and after the advent of the Internet. It also serves as a testament to the ongoing macro-project called "Subcultures of Youth During the Internet Era."
Within the digital context, the project merges the vibrant Harajuku fashion, known for its vivid colors and abundant accessories, with the raver culture. Similar to the vibrant aesthetics of Sailor Moon or Tokyo Mew Mew, colors become the true protagonists, symbolizing audacious determination and a sense of security. Through her transformative and fluid world, Alice Consonni invites us to embrace our authenticity and originality, defying societal norms and shining brightly amidst the monotony of everyday life.
Ravers Fantasy celebrates those who fearlessly express themselves without censorship, capturing the essence of youth subcultures in their quest for beauty and creative energy. It invites us to appreciate the power of self-expression and the unique narratives that emerge from the convergence of fashion, technology, and identity.
