Pedro Almodovar

Bad Education is a dizzying tale by Almodovar, that is a film within a film, and a series of stories within another story.

The plot is anything but linear, rather a film which informs its viewer through a compilation of gossipy stories. The protagonist, Enrique (Fele Martinez), is a director and is the eyes of the audience. He’s approached by Ignacio (Gael Garcia Bernal), an old school friend, who comes with a script based on the beginning of their friendship and his imagined vision into the future.

Enrique is intrigued by the idea, especially because the young writer was his first love, while at the same time he’s suspicious, claiming he’s different to the Ignacio he was once close with. What follows is a series of alternative stories to Ignacio’s, informing Enrique of the missing parts of the script. Almodovar’s masterpiece can only be explained by watching it. Its set out like a collection of missing puzzle pieces in a random order, and he leaves it to his audience to put it together.
