Liam Hodges SS20
Marking the 6th-year anniversary of the self-titled London-based brand, Liam Hodges brought us his new SS20 collection Fifth Generation to LMFW - exploring futurism and pressure of social media, inspired by online personalities, cyberpunk ideas and stock computer game characters. Founded in 2013, the brand as a whole focuses on designing luxury streetwear for ‘those who forsake conformity each and every day.’ It’s reminiscent of the online generation it’s tailored to - giving its own definition to being aspirational and successful. The RCA and Fashion East alum’s work is influenced and defined by modern subcultures, postmodernism, post-punk, hip-hop, skatewear, workwear, sportswear, patchwork and strong graphic texts. Hodges looks this season specifically featured oversized half worn pieces, prints, asymmetric layers, techwear, eccentric colors, knits, patchwork, pinstripes, tape, pastels, flowers, wigs and wire - featuring collaborations with Italian sports brand Ellesse and artist Alfie Kungu. Influences for the pieces were drawn from online personalities, self-gamification, Aldous Huxley, filmmaker David Cronenberg and the film EXistenZ. Hodges is looking deeper into how we self-edit, self-censor and self-promote - and so should you.
