Albertus
Although Henrik Purienne is internationally known for his instantly recognizable snapshots of his beautiful girlfriends on holiday, what is lesser known is that he is an award winning documentary filmmaker who grew up in a small town in South Africa where his father was a Psychologist at the school for the Deaf, Blind and Physically/Mentally disabled.
The featured images are portraits from the teenage archive of Purienne taken at the birthday of long time family friend, Albertus. It was shot on the 'semi-questionable Minolta point and shoot family camera’, capturing a community of people with a style and liveliness all their own, individually, yet cohesive and strong collectively.
