This Spanish artist loves to micro dose on emotions - he does it through his ceramics of loud mouths and burning dogs, setting free low levels of anxiety and distress that immediately also turn into fun.

What does the mouth symbolizeto you?

For me the mouth symbolizes several things such as communication, nutrition, expressivity, mood, etc. In any case, what I do love is giving off anxiety, a little bit of distress. They seem to be screaming, asking for help or even suffering.

What is your current series about?

At the moment I’m working with ceramic. The main theme is based on body parts and especially face parts like mouths and eyes. In some cases I try to distort them in order to create some disgust in the viewer. I try to build a fantastic world made of odd objects.

What is your favorite feature on your face and why - eyes, mouth, nose, ears, cheeks, etc.?

I guess my favorite feature would be my eyes. Eyes are our tool for communicating, transmittingemotions and nowadays have been enhanced by the use of masks due to Covid-19.

What has 2020 done for you so far? And what have you done for 2020?

2020 has given me the worst year ever. At the same time, I guess it will end up being the most productive year ever. During lockdown I could do nothing but work, in some way obliged to work non-stop, more than ever.

What gives you inspiration these days?

Nowadays we can get inspiration from anywhere since we are constantly bombed with images from TV and social networks but most of the times I just start modelingwithout a clear idea in my mind. This is the way I get to prototypes I work on afterwards and this is the way the first mouth of the series really came up.

What are your hopes for 2021 - what do you want to work on?

I just want to go on and never stop. The only way to progress and better your work is hardworking constantly so you get to new objects and ideas. You must never stop getting your hands dirty.

What is your favorite Tv-show or book at the moment - and why?

I recently watched The Handmaid’s Tale and I guess it is my favorite TV show at the moment. It’s not just the cinematography, the use of colors or the astounding acting but the dystopian story we can clearly relate to this Covid-19 moment we are living in. An apparently not such an important cause can turn upside down the whole world and change the way we live, the way we connect with our familiesand friends and we must live with rules and restrictions that didn’t exist a couple of months ago.
