Frimanyo
When I looked up the word Fricky on Urban Dictionary, the definition I found was, “A kitten or cat in a state of hyperactiveness.” When I looked up Fricky, the Swedish Rapper, my search results weren’t much different.
Where are you from?
I’m from the dirty north of Sweden. :)
What is your native language?
Swedish.
You did a winter gear look book with Hoopdiggas right? What is your relationship to the brand?
Actually, I didn’t do the Lookbook. A girl named Ebba (@illestmother) made that one. She is super talented and probably Rihannas biggest fan. I am, however, one of the founders of Hoopdiggas. Two of my best friends and I started it as an independent record label and Clothing brand back in 2014. I was part of making earlier look books and also have been part of designing the clothes! We really had to do everything ourselves since we’ve just been kids with no money to pay people like Ebba up until now! Haha. So yes, I would say I wear it a lot! :-)
What other labels do you wear? Do you care about wearing designer stuff?
I really do! I could spend hours just browsing websites for gems on Vfiles, 424 and Ejderforlife to name a few. But I buy almost all of my clothes on a second hand store called Humana in Stockholm. The problem is I just moved out to the woods and should really put all my effort into buying some good ole’ fleece jackets and Long Johns!
I listened to your song, "Man" on Spotify - can you translate a few lines for me to English?
Well, in Sweden we have a way of referring to oneself as ”Man”. Especially in uncomfortable situations, instead of saying ”I”, we choose to say ”Man” to distance ourselves from the things we talk about. Almost, in a way, to cover your own ass. I thought that was a problem, so in this song I wanted to overuse the word - as a statement - to address the things men are uncomfortable talking about.
For example:
"Man’s never taken care of how Man feels. Man’s been using the tools man has.”
"Man’s got women in his life, but they have words that Man cannot understand"
The Chorus goes something like:
"Man’s always been and always will be a little like that."
Shit. It sounds like Big Shaq when Man’s translating this!
What is an ideal circumstance for you to come up with lyrics and musical ideas?
I almost always have to be alone and some how under the influence - With a beat in my headphones and a mic plugged in. Then I just sing until I come up with a hook and lyrics…until I have what I call a “Banger”.
What is your opinion on country western music?
That’s the sweet sweet lovin’ genre!! Every country song I have ever heard has been about heartbreak or marriage and I like that.
Who did you grow up listening to?
Elvis Presley.
If you could collaborate with any musician (dead or alive) who would you choose?
Elvis Presley. And we would sing about heartbreak and/or marriage.
If someone wanted to create a candy after you, what would it look like, smell like and taste like? Also, what would it be called?
A hard yellow lemon candy. As soon as you put it in your mouth, it melts. Inside the hard sweet lemon shell there will be the sourest powder you ever tasted in your life. I would call it ”The Sun” for obvious reasons.
Are you going to tour this year? When is your next show? When is your next song or album coming out?
Yes! Im releasing my debut EP called ”Aqua Aura” this spring. Probably March. After that I’ll be going on a big club tour in Sweden. After that, hopefully the rest of Scandinavia. Really looking forward to that! :-)
