Taking his unbiased and unrestricted views on life into his jewelry, Damson is a designer working to push through limitations created by both himself and the world. Art and design are apart of him innately, and he isn’t afraid to break limitations to achieve this innate nature.

Who is Dasom? How would you describe yourself as an artist?
I respect people who break prejudices, and clogged frameworks about all things in the world in terms of visuals, and renew them in their use and aesthetic form to break their own limits or frameworks that restrict them and feel unbiased about everything in the world. That is who I want to be.

Tell us the birth story of Eqeqpe. Why jewelry? What made you take an experimental approach?
I have been a painter since I was a child up until I became an adult. The ultimate goal of my life is to use my artistic sense and apply it to fashion. The new genre of fashion that breaks the boundaries of the industry and art to the public in everyday life. The purpose was to make it accessible. I went to a fashion academy and I was looking for something I could be good at, and I was thinking of an object. Collage or reinterpret an existing one into a new vision and break it up. I felt that the most interesting task was to transform and elucidate. So naturally, I wanted to express myself with something using collage or recombination, but I chose Jewelry design to try various collage works regardless of anything because of material limitations and courtship rather than designing clothes.

Since Eqeqpe ships worldwide. Has the globalization and the demographic of buyers impacted the brand? Is there a difference between jewelry that would sell well in South Korea but not America. If so, for example?
It has not been long since the current worldwide shipping was carried out, since the order was placed overseas. The delivery is not active, so we have to watch the situation a little bit more closely. From now on, we will accept more foreign eqers and not just sell them abroad. Art through non-profit-making areas in collaboration with artists for activities, I would like to discuss products abroad or to work with foreign artists and It's scheduled to proceed.

Eqeqpe is marketed and sold through Instagram but the designs themselves take on a technological, futuristic aesthetic. How does technology influence the brand as both a business and an artistic practice
Strictly speaking, Eqeqpe is more an aesthetic than futuristic technology. The surreal feeling of the Third World, which has never been present or in the past, For example, there's something that we think has been used today. They're going to be sarcastic, they're going to be able to solve things in a futuristic, surreal sense with artistry. from an aesthetic standpoint Instead of feeling like we're in the present or the past. These are nowhere to be found, and we're going to be able to use the ordinary things that we're using closely in our daily lives. In the future, I think I can wear it as a fashion or create it as a visual. This is what I seek and is the motto of Eqeqpe's brand.

What is the process behind the product?
The whole process begins almost with me improvising and finding something unanswered. Usually, I think about it while I’m walking down the street, or in places where things that appeal to my mind might exist, without a variety of set rules or themes. First of all, I make a choice as I see things I  like. Most of the time, Eqeqpe designs the common things that they normally used in our daily lives, and turn it into a variety of different types of beauty, and also feel gorgeous to the public. As a result, Eqeqpe can turn ordinary and abandoned things into beautiful, wonderful accessories so the public has the desire to wear them themselves. I'm working on it.

As a designer and a model, how do two roles intersect? Is it a relationship of convergence or conflict?
I am working to completely separate model and brand, Eqeqpe and model Dasom. I think the job of a model should make myself look colorful and not tied to anything. While the brand Eqeqpe shows various forms of jewelry, but somehow Eqeqpe has a consistent feeling and color as well, I also want to be known as a nobody that just is talented in many ways. That is why I use my face for the item images in the Eqeqpe brand but I cannot identify with it.

What is next for Eqeqpe?
Eqeqpe continues to be more adventurous than pragmatism. It will produce many works that show deep artistry. As a result, Eqeqpe will eliminate prejudices about what the public usually thought was useless or what they each had on their own. Also, I will Eqeqpe to be recognized as Jewelry which is beautiful as opposed to artwork that is usually useless abandoned. And the goal of Eqeqpe is to make the artwork beautiful so people can easily access it in life and communicate with themselves and while wearing the artwork as jewelry.

In addition to the commercial success of the brand, Eqeqpe is more than that, it will continue to record various experimental and new wonderful works as it grows together with various artists or brands with open thoughts and unbiased minds. Eqeqpe is not just a commercially successful brand, but it will approach the public as more than jewelry, or artwork and try hard to impress and make the public feel beautiful. Finally, if there are any artist or mediums you would like to collaborate with as part of this wonderful idea, please contact Eqeqpe at any time.
