On Thursday, 21 March from 7–10 PM @slamjam and @umbro present ‘When The Kids Were United,’ a retrospective exhibition curated by @_gavin_watson at Spazio Maiocchi, documenting British subcultures from the 1970s onwards with a Dj set by @uncledugs.
Sham 69’s anthem ‘If the Kids Are United’ captured the spirit of solidarity and rebellion among youth. With its raw energy and rallying cry, the song became a symbol of unity and defiance during a turbulent era. In the same vein, the British photographer reveals the extraordinary in the poorest suburbs of London, populated by skins, punks, and ravers, capturing the complexity and authenticity of these movements through his penetrating lens.
