Volim

The 16th century Italian theatre 'Commedia Dell'arte' birthed the practice of improvised acting based on stock characters. Minimal yet effective costumes characterize each individual, portraying their persona and class without the aid of language. Traits of 9 characters (3 Lovers, 3 Servants, 3 Elders) were integrated into their silhouettes, embellishments and tone (White - Grey - Black).

These masks were applied to nine individual people, then to one individual nine times. In both instances, the wearer is successfully disguised and quite naturally transforms into their designated personality. The concept of characterizing a garment can be useful in achieving long-term product appeal. ‘Volim’ consists of two 21 year old designers, Tia Tokic (Clothing) & Lauren Salt (Florist) from Perth, Western Australia.
