Robin Lopvet
Robin Lopvet’s pictures follow-up the ancestral line of french comedy, called „le ridicule“. Besides that he studied photography in NYC and lives now on the french countryside – enjoying cheese, friends and being offline, from time to time.
What is your favorite french dish?
The Raclette. Basically it's just melted cheese on potatoes.
But you need a special gear for it – and in France there is one in every house.
It's the most brutal dish ever – you end up just entirely filled-up with cheese. It’s almost a competition.
Where does you last name Lopvet come from? You know sth. about your ancestry?
I come from the east of France, in a place called "Les Vosges" and my name is specifically from there. It means "Young Wolf“. I don't know much about my ancestors, but my grandmother was deeply into it. She told me that someone in my family was married with Anton Tchekhov.
Did you have a cultural shock when you moved from Arles to NY to do your photography studies there?
Yes! New York was kind of brutal, but I really liked it.
How is Arles treating you during the pandemic?
Really well! We have really good weather and a lot of space. Cops are barely present, it's an excellent place to live at the moment.
You’re a lot on the internet: What do you like to do when you’re offline?
I try to see real people. Sometimes get drunk with them.
Burger King or McDonalds?
I hate both. I love to cook.
What is your favorite animal?
I don't have any, but I love to use dogs in Photoshop.
