Pia Brix-Thomsen
Pia Brix-Thomsen is neither particularly Nordic by looks nor in her art. She is like a gipsy, a citizen of the world, who with great passion becomes absorbed and paints vigorous sonorous canvases. Pia Brix-Thomsen has the last 20 years made a strong impression on the art scene with her energetic and richly colored abstract works. In particular, one notes in her works the passion and talent for working with light and depth. Her works are at once calm and balanced and yet senses at the same time a powerful temper. She has since she completed her training at The Funen Art Academy in Denmark in 1992 exhibited in numerous galleries in Denmark and abroad. The last 14 years she has primarily been working with Galleries in USA and Norway.
Pia Brix-Thomsen was raised in an ordinary worker family environment. She was raised without stimulation from art culture, science, spirit, religion or books. She started to paint when she was 18 years old. The need for cultural stimulation gave her a huge thirst to broaden her perspective at all levels and she began to read about the psychological and philosophical topics. But not until she started painting, she discovered her passion and inner necessity to express herself through art.
She is born in 1964. Today she lives and work in Jutland, Denmark.
