Martine Rose AW21
Martine Rose is a London-based brand that was established in 2007. A homage to her Jamaican-British heritage and London as a cultural melting pot, Rose’s work investigates masculinity and understanding personalities and mood.
In the new Fall 21 collection, we see the beauty of the eclectic. Tailoring teases the line between sexualising and conservative cuts with chap trousers patched in and blush velvet power suits. Here, business and leisure are blended and coated with a glaze of 80s naffness. Gender defined clothing is subtly displaced with shoulder pads, high necks and hard-textured fabrics like denim and leather for womenswear and crushed velvet and diamante-embellished denim for men. Dogtooth formal jackets greet blue sports jackets; faded jeans hold hands with red wrap-blazers; oversized t-shirts sink into navy blue suits. In this new collection, Martine Rose offers us liberty. A light-hearted reminder of the beauty married with the mundane. Categorised style is rejected, and instead, we embrace visual spectrums – of character, sexuality, mood and simply, dressing.
“Whether a quiet riot or silent thunder, the wardrobe for Martine Rose Fall 21 makes for a victorious ride.”
