Lorenzo Marini
Marini's work and his own personal background represent the paradigm of one of the strongholds of contemporary art: shattering barriers between art and other creative disciplines. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, and majoring in architecture, he entered in advertising, to become one of the most respected art directors at an international level.
During all these years, however, he continued to quietly pursue his artistic research, focusing between visual arts and advertising. On one hand, many of his advertising campaigns emerges sensitivity, but also the teaching learned Academy, pure artist. On the other hand, Marini faces the opposite direction. Focusing on his artistic research is the decoding in visual art of the classical models of advertising, which are cleaned out from their typical characteristics of the "commercial" communication. In other words, we can say that his works are pages or advertising posters whose writings, images and logos have been removed, but the harmony of space and proportion are maintained. The protagonist of this research is almost always white, treated, even with different materials, in all its forms.
No sound, no color, the paintings of Marini at first sight seem empty, even though we know that in this world not everyone thinks the same way, for someone there is a emptiness, for other there's a lot. Marini says his painting working primarily on color, using "the colorless atheism of all colors." And the white tint has a tradition in the art, although linked to modern and abstraction.
— Giacinto Di Pietrantonio
For a year, Lorenzo Marini came out of the closet, showing his paintings in public and collecting critical acclaim. He has already 7 exhibitions to his credit in as many public spaces, including the Oberdan of Milan and Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence. His works begin to be required on the market, as evidenced by its presence, with 8 works, at the last edition of Art Basel Miami.
The next stage will take place Saturday, April 9th: the largest Italian Cultural Society, the Arnoldo Mondadori, has chosen to inaugurate the series of exhibitions "St-Art, the artist of the month, masters of today and tomorrow will bring on show". Marini's exhibition titled "Contaminatio" will be inaugurated simultaneously at the two main Mondadori centres in Milan, in Piazza Duomo and in Via Marghera. The exhibition represent the fall of barriers between different forms of creativity.
