Photographer Nicola Favaron’s new photo series is inspired by curiosity and gratitude - which was styled by Leen Abu Eisheh starring 15-year-old model Kimberley Leech from Derbyshire, who has albinism and nystagmus. The three met through Eisheh, and Favaron came to realize how disabling Leech’s conditions can be. As a result, Favaron wanted the series to focus on ‘playing’ and ‘performing’ with the concept of gravity in the dark - serving as symbolism of physical strength, agility, and female empowerment in the face of ‘being different.’ ‘Now more than ever we shall never forget how much diversity is pure honey for our souls and cultures,’ says Favaron. Favaron’s work overall demonstrates an inherent curiosity for the ‘visually outstanding’ and deep gratitude for all the situations in which having a camera between himself and the world, in her own words, ‘allows him to live.’
