Josie, What is your horoscope? Sun, moon, rising? And what would be the 4 tarot cards that can describe your current mood and energies?

I am a Pisces sun, Sagittarius moon, and rising libra! I just pulled some tarot cards them being Knave of Coins, The Hierophant, Judgment in reverse, and 5 of wands, from this I gathered that I must be willing to learn more and the power of knowledge, practice love, to keep on creating and stand for what I love!

You are from Orpington, where mum is from Kent and dad is from Hong Kong. This explains you understand cultures and people through larger-than-life lenses. What part of growing up was or is still complex or challenging?

I find it difficult to see people struggle in a world that could and should do better. You feel helpless sometimes, and you wish the world was fairer and different, and as an adult, you realize that as a kid you are way less aware.

What makes you write the music that you write? It's, of course, different each time with different issues, but is it always based on your very own personal experiences or do you channel down more holistic scenarios? How do you process and navigate your intentions?

It's always based on my own personal experience, I found singing about things that aren’t coming from MY heart results in imposter syndrome. it doesn’t sit right with me. Sometimes I have things to say that are at the forefront of my mind and sometimes I have nothing at all!

Your artistry resonates with many people. Each track is just so unique and crafted with such love.. It's almost addictive.. How does this as a work, play out for you yourself? Do you go also obsessed with the making of it? Please take us through your regular creative process and navigation.

Thank you so much!! Honestly, I get such a buzz from singing melodies that feel good, and when the song makes you wanna melt and just SCREAM the song. Music is so special to me.
90% of the time start with melodies and then that gives me a feel of what the lyrics will feel like, melodies always come way easier and words are harder for me to get out, but you know when they feel right.

Josie, I observed that you have a subliminal healing and loving energy associated with all tracks so far. Love is the recurring theme. What are your thoughts on love, life, and spirituality in general, and how does it help you and your work to be purposeful? When you had your first awakening and how?

Thank you so much for noticing that, I became aware of how music can have subliminal messages. Love is my favorite thing and something to sing about and encourage, I love songs, they bring me joy. Love brings everyone together, it's connected to everything. I found spirituality helpful because it keeps me grounded, things around me let me know I’m on the right track and that everything will always be okay and fall into place. I trust and believe that with my whole heart, even when “bad” things happen I always look back and KNOW I was meant to learn from that and that I was being redirected to what is truly right for me. it may sound silly but I have experienced that countless times!

Can you tell us what kind of discipline you incorporate that keeps you and your work aligned and how your relationships make you the finer artist? Do you have any pivotal moment that made you take the lead and start doing what you do? How music happened to you and what is the back story of this all?

I have supportive family, friends, and a boyfriend who always encouraged me, that was the first step for me I think, they gave me confidence and they are all the biggest part of my life and I feel fortunate for that! Like I said just before, it all happened at the right time for me, when I was ready for something. I started posting singing videos and pics on Instagram and met a manager, I went with the flow of things and before you knew it I was doing sessions for the first time and signed!

The genres, the beats, and the overall emotional state take me to 2000’s energy in general. Even your style is very much Y2K. What is your relationship with this mood and time period if any? What are your inspirations and influences?

It is my fav time!! I love cassie and Rihanna and their WONDERFUL melodies and the feelings to the songs, I love the throwback feel, it takes me back to a very happy space!!!

From the first track ‘colors’ to the recent one ‘lime and soda’ what shifts you have noticed in your life as a creative being?

SO many shifts, I’ve felt mature and have become stronger, I feel more powerful within myself and I have learned that I can set boundaries but still be a kind and loving person. I always thought you’d have to be harsh and thick-skinned, but you can do it in your own way. I’ve learned how to speak how I feel too, which I found really difficult.

Last but not least.. What are looking forward to incorporating more in your future work?

I would love to collab with someone but I trust that will fall into place at the right time, and to do more shows! id also love to create songs using healing frequencies, but maybe I can save that for my 50s!!
