IUAV SS21
In reflection of the new world and its 2020 edition of fashion caused by Covid-19, the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV) saw a need for a new project after industry wide changes rattled its usual plans for an end-of-year show. So, Swiss fashion designer and director Rafael Kouto managed to create a stimulating fashion event that lacks a physical audience reimagined through technology and given a virtual crowd instead. Taking place in an exclusively digital format came the IUAV (BA) Fashion Design and Multimedia Arts graduate show.
Originally streamed 09/10/20 at 6:30 pm was the alluring performance of IUAV talents. Coordinated by designers Philipp Lenke, Giovanni Nordio, Gregorio Nordio, and Christian Pellizzar. The online show was a special performance that took place in the spaces of Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi in Venice in collaboration with the Swiss Institute. The top talents of the course incorporated into the show the results of a workshop dedicated to playing with methods of upcycling; this in turn gave effect to a steadfast message on sustainability, specifically in fashion.
Curated by Gina Monaco with the celestial sounds of Carlos Finger, the final collections featured in the show were created by the following students; Benedetta Camerra, Giulio Campus + Roberto Piffer, Anna Dionisi + Leonardo Rossetto, Adriana Dobanda, Alberto Groja + Giuseppe Smajato, Cristiana La Greca + Maria Spadoni, Martina Alia Mascia, Lucilla Monfardini, Dolores Mortin, Michela Orlando, Elena Pan, Francesca Roson, Saverio Rufini + Giulia Sachespi, Mara Russo, Erik Starc, Margherita Toffolo, Gilda Tommasini Florian, Marta Tonello.
