Henrik Vibskov AW20
From fluid textiles, to bathroom-themed prints, and references to vintage bathrooms, Henrik Vibskov transports the intimacy connected to individual rituals – such as washing, brushing, shaving – to the runway. Jacquards evoke structural details and patterns of old-fashioned bathrooms, while some of the prints take direct inspiration from the natural phenomena that surround us while getting ready for the day. The sense of humidity and warmth that follows a long, hot shower, together with familiar views of misty mirrors and shiny surfaces become distinctive qualities of the garments themselves.
Please Remove Before Washing returns to the meditative dimension of the bathroom through the soft, organic surrealism of its installation. A room filled with bathtubs hosts a communal bathing routine where performers share the same gestures and rhythms. In an almost sacred space, the spirit of this century seems to move along a sequence of soothing acts of care, and finally finds a peaceful haven.
