GiorgiAndreazza AW20
Multi-textural explosions of material overlapping, and intertwining are used to create an extremity of distinctive styles. Somewhat overwhelming, but this is very much the point. In collaboration with her mother, giorgiandreazza uses her AW20 collection to critically comment on the current state of the Fashion Industry. The aim is to ensure evolution, to battle the current climate which consists of issues surrounding overproduction and wastefulness. As you have probably derived this is not only applicable to fashion, but has additional global implications. Human identity is not forgotten and enters the mix formulating ideas that fashion can be used as a tool to hide oneself, a ‘husk’ to surround your true self. This in turn interlocks astutely with the problems around the over-production and over consumption that is ‘fast-fashion’. Alongside the explosive creations formed of varying scrap material, we see Italian tailoring, focusing on the shape and form of the body. This juxtaposition of styling help to ‘drive home’ Andreazza’s critical commentary on the industry. The onlookers of giorgiandreazza’s AW20 catwalk are provided with a narrative which brings to mind the crucial nature of craftsmanship. These beautifully fashioned garments connect and contrast to form a collaborative mother-daughter show which speaks volumes.
