Dissimulatio Incoronata
The original concept of this project was to write a poem or nursery rhyme in Italian, with an insertion of an English version, translated by Google Translate. The creative team behind “Dissĭmŭlātĭo Incoronata” discovered the version of their piece Google had translated was completely lacking of the succulence and concise fluidity of the original piece. This leads to the dihlemma that though these tools are necessary in a globalized world, how much of what we are trying to convey is lost in translation?
As many written pieces are not only significant in the intention of the piece, but the language and diction itself, globalization can deprive us of an authentic understanding. The models in this project are styled in simplistically modern garments, which subdeltly expresses the conceptual notes behind this editorial. The concept of an indispensable resource falling short of its ability to seamlessly convey complex ideas and ideologies classifies as an integral, yet understates con to globalization.
