Dan Cali
Digital artist Dan Cali was born in 1977 in Melbourne, Australia and currently lives and works there. He studied automotive design at Monash University from 1997 to 2000 and his most recent project was designing for Land Rover in Gaydon. The Australian automotive designer is highly influenced by mid-century design and automotive literature as well as the colors and sleekness associated with Scandinavian design. He also cites Renaissance art and chiaroscuro as his influences. Cali is captivated by car styling and, apparent by his omission of modern cars in his works, prefers classic automobiles.
Cali’s artwork is a digital montage of photography and cars rendered by hand. He states that his work questions what is real and what is not and captures a sensual fantasy. His digital artwork showcases the sides of cars so as to more so show the design of the cars. Cali’s art displays an intense appreciation for classic cars and design that complement a modern day lifestyle.
