Comme Des Pantones
Nuno Vieira is the mastermind behind “Comme Des Pantones”, an Instagram account of monochrome street style outfits that consists of photos both by Vieira and outsourced by way of DM submissions as well.
““The project started as a joke that…I would start a project with all the people that dressed all in one color around Porto, so I just started collecting them, just out of pure fun and as a way of noticing what’s around you, like a “Pokemon Go” kind of thing, but all real,””
The account often receives international content from Barcelona or London and also has an “honorable mention” feature that, while not adhering to the account’s monochrome rule, showcases an equally pleasing composition of hues.
““I like to say that we are a spark to this very weird community that just documents people in one color, we are trying to give maximum priority to the submissions given that we never thought that people would find it interesting since post 1.””

The project goes back to the roots of street style with documentary style photos taken by mobile cameras—there’s no clear hierarchy of photos, no staged photos, and a true appreciate of the single color outfit whether that outfit is worthy of high fashion labelling or not.
