Buerlangma AW23

The growing Chinese Fashion brand Buerlangma showcased an AW23 collection named "Do It Like A Villain" during London Fashion Week. The Fashion Scout presentation was held at Protein Studios in London's trendy Shoreditch.

Buerlangma was established in Beijing in 2020 by supermodel BoChao Yuan and designer/creative director QiQi Yuan and since, the label has gained fame by outfitting celebrities such as Doja Cat, Beyoncé, and Ashnikko, as well as recently winning the fashion scout merit award.

The collection dives into the notion of the villain, who is widely shown in films, television plays, novels, and myths from all around the world as both beautiful and terrifying. This theme highlights China's current cultural change, in which young people embrace their individuality and innovation, question the existing quo, and push boundaries in their own distinct ways.

QiQi Yuan says "Being a villain means to question everything considered to be true and to fearlessly challenge the status quo. This is the core of being a villain and what we hope to represent through our designs. Everyone can be a villain before he succeeds, and we hope to encourage the youth to embrace their individuality and creativity in their own unique ways."

QiQi Yuan was inspired by China's developing young culture; the collection includes masks depicting diverse roles and characteristics of today's youth. The collection's ready-to-wear pieces include basic patterns and appealing methods, as well as the brand's distinctive materials like cotton, silk, taffeta, satin, and PU leather. The collection also includes resin-printed 3D wearable electronics, highlighting the brand's dedication to creativity and innovation.

Buerlangma's goal with the "Do It Like A Villain" collection was to push the boundaries of traditional fashion and create something really unique and representative of adolescent culture. With its debut during London Fashion Week, Buerlangma hopes to establish itself as a key voice in the world of fashion, fostering uniqueness, creativity, and innovation.
