Bed J.W Ford AW19
This season, Japanese designer Shinpei Yamagashi unveiled the latest Bed J.W Ford collection based on the idea of the perfect menswear wardrobe. It’s versatile, blending casual sportswear (thanks to a collaboration with Adidas) and sensual tailoring, whilst incorporating the brand’s signature deconstructed layers and relaxed silhouettes.
The colour palette is rich and warm, alluding to dusky sunsets in the far East with colours of blood orange, earthy camel and saffron-yellow making up much of the collection. Billowy silhouettes and voluminous tailoring create a mood of ease and functionality, featuring materials like lustrous, duo-chrome velvet. Complementing the draped layers are pieces with structured hems and sharp crossover details. Fringing, intarsia detailing and large prints add an organic finish to the collection.
The discernibly sportier pieces are down to a collaboration with Adidas. Hooded jackets, technical fabric and reflective print make up the capsule collection, adapting it to the modern wardrobe. Yamagishi’s Milan debut is the ideal hybrid of casual and sophisticated, raw and polished. To parallel man’s multi-dimensional nature, it is a range of modular pieces that can be playfully rearranged and adapted to suit any occasion and experience.
