We love the Tantrum video, tell us about the idea and collaboration behind it?
yeehaw, thank you! The lyric/music video is three me’s as different video game characters riding three different motorcycles through an animated mountainous landscape. There’s also a bit of sexy action between the characters, self-love being a recurring theme in the music. I got to wear my dream outfits and have ten-foot pigtails so it was a dream.

What are you most looking forward to during your upcoming tour?
I wish I was! Coronavirus took that one off the table for me! It’s all about quarantine crafts now.

Expand on your creative process? How do you curate your ideas?
I keep a massive google doc of ideas and words and song titles that I usually come up with at 5 am, then refer back to during sessions.

Who are some of your favorite artists you’ve collaborated with? And who do you hope to collaborate with in the future?
I don’t wanna ruin any surprises about who I’ve been working with!!! Eeeeeeek some real dream people I promise!

What was the process of creating your debut album “unlikeable”?
Nobody does YOU like YOU! Trust your instincts creatively because that’s the best way to create something authentically you. Creating something to please someone else or because you feel like you have to is a recipe for disaster I think.

What is next for Ashnikko this year?
Trying not to go insane in self-isolation. I spent 100 bucks in a craft store yesterday to prepare. I’ve bought books and I’m gonna live-stream myself crying, eating, singing, etc, so we’ll see how this goes.
