AMÆMI

AMÆMI is an Italian-born Tantric Practitioner and interdisciplinary Sound and Body Performer, whose artistic journey is deeply rooted between Milan and Granada, Spain. With an academic background in Philosophy, a Master's degree in Sexology Consultation, and certifications as a Tantric Yoga Teacher, her work embodies a holistic approach to spirituality, healing, and artistic expression. Through her immersive performances, AMÆMI merges ancient ritualistic traditions with contemporary aesthetics, offering a unique sensory experience that dissolves barriers between the sacred and the modern.

At the heart of her artistic practice lies the Sound and Body project, a ceremonial space where mantra chanting, live music, and tantric mandala movements interweave. This initiative seeks to evoke both primal and ethereal energies, creating an atmosphere that is darkly enchanting yet profoundly meditative. By blending ambient and experimental soundscapes with healing instruments and ritualistic objects, AMÆMI crafts performances that transport audiences into deeply immersive and metamorphic sonic realms.

As an experimental DJ and producer, AMÆMI explores the intersections of sound and spirituality, using sonic landscapes to bridge the depth of the Tantric tradition with contemporary Western influences. Her work transcends conventional boundaries, reshaping everyday experiences into sacred rituals that are both groundbreaking and timeless.

AMÆMI’s latest single, S.A.O. - Spoon of Abundant Openings, emerges as a mesmerizing tribute to Lalita Devi and Kamalatmika, two divine figures of the Tantric tradition symbolizing beauty, abundance, and divine grace. This track, part of her upcoming ambient EP, blends ritualistic sound with an ethereal, almost fairy-like atmosphere, invoking an imaginative space of wonder and mysticism.

The acronym S.A.O. - Spoon of Abundant Openings - derives its name from the Bija mantra Sauh, which embodies the cosmic vibration of Lalita Devi. In Tantric philosophy, bija mantras are seed sounds that encapsulate divine energy, and Sauh is particularly linked to the expansive, all-encompassing grace of the goddess. The phrase "Spoon of Abundant Openings" further plays with this meaning, connecting the cosmic essence of the mantra with the act of nurturing and initiation, symbolizing both the tender, childlike act of being fed and the boundless opulence, beauty, and abundance that Lalita Devi and Kamalatmika represent. This duality of innocence and divine wealth enriches the track with a layered symbolic depth, merging the mystical with the tangible in a poetic and evocative way.

A crucial sonic element of S.A.O. is a Spanish bell, discovered by AMÆMI in a rastro (flea market) in Granada. This bell becomes an instrument of divine resonance, channeling the presence of the goddesses and symbolizing their boundless generosity. Through its chime, AMÆMI captures the essence of sacred giving, merging the ritualistic with the serendipitous.

The track’s soundscape transports listeners into an enchanted forest, where the voices of young goddesses giggle and whisper, embodying a playful yet sacred femininity. This imagery intertwines the mystical with a childlike sense of wonder, drawing inspiration from ancient traditions while maintaining a contemporary, exploratory spirit.

Central to S.A.O. is the powerful Tantric mantra, Ka E I La Rhem, Ha Sa Ka Ha La Ehm, Sa Ka La Rhem Sauh. This vibrational chant invokes the divine presence, bridging the earthly and the celestial realms. The mantra is associated with the Goddess Tripura Sundari (Lalita), a supreme deity in the Tantric tradition, known for embodying beauty, love, and the creative force of the universe. By chanting these syllables, AMÆMI guides listeners into a state of deep resonance and transcendence, weaving the sacred sound of devotion with avant-garde musical exploration.

AMÆMI’s work aligns with contemporary feminist perspectives on spirituality and the reclamation of feminine power. S.A.O. echoes themes from Donna Haraway’s feminist theories, which challenge rigid structures of identity and propose a fluid, interconnected existence that transcends dualities. Similarly, AMÆMI’s sonic explorations dissolve the boundaries between past and future, ritual and experiment, sacred and mundane, organic and cybernetic—embracing an inclusive and transformative vision of spirituality.

Her approach also resonates with The Spiral Dance by Starhawk, a seminal text in feminist spirituality that reclaims goddess worship as an empowering and radical act. Like Starhawk’s vision of the divine feminine, AMÆMI’s work invites a reimagining of abundance, sensuality, and power beyond patriarchal limitations. By invoking Lalita Devi and Kamalatmika—goddesses who embody joy, creativity, and prosperity—S.A.O. becomes not just a song, but a ritual of reclamation and reverence for divine femininity.

Through her innovative fusion of sound, spirituality, and performance art, AMÆMI offers an evolutionary experience that resonates with both body and soul. S.A.O. stands as a testament to the power of sound as a conduit for healing, ritual, and artistic exploration. By redefining traditional boundaries, she invites her audience into a realm where sacred energy flows freely, creating an immersive space for introspection, metamorphosis, and transcendence.
