Absoslut Porka

Milan-based artist absoslut.porka specializes in doodles, namely of Porka, a thin, often white, big-busted, scantily-clad blonde whose eyes extend out of her face like surreal eyeliner or extravagant sunglasses. Sometimes she’s crying, taking selfies, or dancing for cash; whatever it is, she is always paired with an ironic caption about the contradictory relationship between her sexuality and her capital. Although it is unclear if absoslut.porka draws inspiration from personal experience with sex work himself, it’s clear he understands the hard work behind it and the stigmas against sex workers—emphasizing the need for respecting sex workers in a serious rather than trendy way. He criticizes the way social media platforms treat sex workers, arguing that the platforms should adjust their rules to be more inclusive. “Often behind a nipple or a latex-clad ass lies the greatest messages of peace and union ever.” Amen to that.

What are some challenges you face when tackling the topics of sex work and sexuality?
Not many. I immediately decided to speak freely and boldly about these topics.

My audience (hoes, gays, and Satanists) is very intelligent and able to understand my irony at the fullest. They perceives that on the other side, there is an individual who supports them.

At the moment I only have fans #onlyfans—lol—who love the project, and this partially pleases me but at the same time makes me suffer because as many say, you can't really consider yourself famous unless you got a large bunch of h8ters.

You said “Every great artist has a past as a stripper.” How do you think stripping helps you or others in different aspects of life?
LOL, actually I believe that being a stripper is a very normal job, not different from being a cashier or a stylist (the best stylists are all strippers indeed), it's just that being a stripper, a cubist, a night performer, whatsoever, requires more skills and struggle. As you find explained in my new work “Hoecabolary, Confessions Of An Insta Slut,” if you want a future as an artist and you're a smart person, the night performing part is essential. It’s like having your own rehearsal room for as long as you want (+ open bar), where you can practice and improve all of your skills, pretending that the few creepy creatures tipping you are a huge Olympic arena crowd.

You don’t post a lot of personal stuff on social media. Why is that?
I have many personalities: the super super suicidal one, the nerd gamer one, the music lover one, and every single one of them needs its own personal Instagram profile. Absoslut.porka is my attention whore personality, and my analyst told me not to mix it with the others!

Who/what are your three biggest artistic influences?
Eric Cartman, Cicciolina, and the Looney Tunes.

You often poke fun at how mainstream art and culture steals from the sex worker aesthetic while simultaneously rejecting anything put forth by the SWers being appropriated. Why do you think there’s such a disconnect between people desiring the aesthetic and actually respecting SWers?
Few people like art, but everyone likes to pretend they do, and so it is with SWers. Few people really respect them, but everyone likes to pretend otherwise. I think this is simply hypocrisy, a trend.

It’s often said that humor is a mask for darkness and pain. How does humor help you deal with life’s highs and lows?
My dark humor saves my life every day. I take very few things seriously because I see myself as a free thinker and nothing upsets me or scandalizes me too much. From the great joys to the great pains, I face everything with humor, and I’m naturally able to find the tragicomic and ridiculous side in every occasion. This prevents me from being completely sad but sometimes even to be completely happy. *audience cheers*

You also dabble in 3D art. What’s the crossover like from illustration to 3D work?
I’m having a lot of fun with it, and I'm learning. I’ve got a thousand ideas running in my head, and 3D could help me to push myself to limits and into aesthetics where simple sketches couldn't take me. Actually I was born a videomaker, but I get bored very easily so I try to switch between languages.

Any tips for hoes in terms of time management, creating artwork, and/or making more money?
YES, read my guide "HOECABOLARY.” Everything is explained in detail step-by-step with lots of doodles—impossible to fail! Meanwhile, I can tell you something that Donatella Versace told me in a dream: "Try to always be high and slutty. Something will happen."

If the execs at Instagram asked you how they can improve their platform for artists like you, what would you tell them?
I would tell them to review the rules and values in the platform. I saw so many brilliant and creative accounts fall under Instragram‘s senseless censorship. Often behind a nipple or a latex-clad ass lies the greatest messages of peace and union ever. *gets Nobel Prize for peace*

Can you give us a teaser for what we can expect from your new fanzine, Hoecabolary?
This fanzine is just a preview for a bigger project that will be coming soon. Expect to lose all of the values that your parents tried to teach you. It's a real guide to reach digital fame and popularity, written by an unpopular asshole. Brilliant!
