Milan based Donald Braho, 29, aka DABÓ, has just released his debut music video, ‘Uno, Quattro.’ Geri Prendushi is the artist responsible for the 3D visuals and production of the video created under the direction of the emerging DJ. It was conceived via zoom during the first official ‘quarantine’ in Italy.

Heavily influenced by 80’s synthetics and IDM the music of ‘Uno, Quattro’ incorporates Kraftwerk inspired google translate samples for a contemporary vocoder sound. Tranquil undertones and meditative vibrations combined with groovy beats synthesize an avant-garde take on EDM. Reminiscent of an outer-space video game, the visuals transcend animation taking you on a journey into the personal metamorphosis of DABÓ as he evolves into a new version of himself.

Coeval had the opportunity to catch up with the innovative musician once again, following the release of his first ever music video, ‘Uno, Quattro’.

What originally prompted you to begin making electronic music?

The love I have for music, especially for electronic music, the goal is to make people dance!

Uno, Quattro is inspired by 80’s synths and IDM. Can you tell us what inspired you to go in this direction with its composition?

Uno, Quattro has a touch of Kraftwerk to it. By the time I started working Florian Schneider died, it was a sort of tribute to his monumental work and how much they influenced me.

What about the vocals?  They definitely remind us of Kraftwerk’s “Numbers”.

Well, I was always fascinated with vocoders, computed vocals and anything that sounds technologic and robotic, so I decided to sample google translate, and it worked!

The 3D visuals in the music video, “depict an inner journey of transformation.” Is this “inner journey” personal to you?; and what are you trying to say through the symbols that are incorporated?

Well it is very personal, it’s my personal evolution, spiritual and material. What I am trying to explain via the storyline of the video is this transformation into the new me, whether artistically or personally, as a human being speaking.

Can you describe your creative process?

It’s very simple, when the wave of inspiration hits,  I ride and let myself feed from the idea. At one moment everything I need to complete my work comes flowing.

The music video was directed via zoom. Did you find it challenging to successfully create such a project while restricted by the coronavirus? - If so, can you tell us how you overcame this?

It was challenging, and very difficult, we spent months and a lot of tryouts to achieve the final results. The only way to overcome it is by not giving up, being patient and communicating in such a way that the creative exchange takes place.

What motivates you to continue generating new music?

The love I have for music, my passion for it.

So then for the hoary question, where do you see yourself in five years? Do you have any notable aspirations or goals you are set out to achieve?

Hopefully, I see myself with many more musical releases and touring all over the world.
