Bandele "Tex" Ajetunmobi
Bandele ‘Tex’ Ajetunmobi was born in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to England in 1947 as a stowaway on a boat. The self-taught photographer is known for his candid photos of daily life in East London, particularly Whitechapel, Stepney, and Mile End. His casual approach to taking photos reveal an authentic intimacy and comfortable relationship between camera and subject. His photography is major in highlighting the social culture in the East end of London in the 1950s to 1980s.
